Russell Ramsey is the President of Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co. Inc. (FBR), a firm he co-founded with Emanuel J. Friedman and Eric F. Billings. He is responsible for FBR's strategic direction, daily management and the leadership of over 250 investment bankers, research analysts, traders and employees.

Mr. Ramsey was instrumental in the creation and development of FBR's fixed income capabilities; distressed securities and research and trading group; and initiatives in the growth stock sector. Since 1992, FBR has acted as financial advisor and managed or co-managed more than 147 capital transactions totaling more than $12.6 billion. In 1995, Mr. Ramsey launched the FBR Technology Group, having recognized the growth opportunity of the Internet - and information-based businesses. Since its establishment, this Group has grown to 30 individuals and completed eight corporate finance transactions for a total of $244 million in 1996.

Prior to co-founding FBR, Mr. Ramsey worked for the Institutional Research, Sales and Trading Group at Johnston, Lemon & Co. He began his professional career at Pitney Bowes in 1981, and in 1983 was recognized as the number one producing salesperson in an annual competition of more than 5,000 salespeople, an honor he held until 1986 when he left the company.

Mr. Ramsey is a member of the Northern Virginia Roundtable and the Northern Virginia Technology Council. He has been a strong advocate for bringing professional baseball to the Northern Virginia area and is active in many charitable causes, personally and through the Friedman, Billings, Ramsey Foundation.

Mr. Ramsey received his B.A. in Business Administration from The George Washington University.
